The External Open AIR Valve is an open-source, Home Assistant–compatible valve designed for 125mm air duct / ventilation systems.
It lets you control airflow within your ventilation system, directing it to specific rooms as needed. This helps optimise energy use and improve comfort in your home.
The External Open AIR Valve was created to solve a real-world problem: during showers, the ventilation system would pull warm air from the living room, causing the thermostat to reheat the room unnecessarily. This wasted energy and added environmental impact.
With the External Open AIR Valve, you can shut off the living room vent and redirect airflow where it’s needed. And because it integrates with Home Assistant, the behaviour can be fully automated to fit your lifestyle.

It’s a deliberate choice not to include the 12V power supply. Most tweakers probably already have a collection of power adapters they’ve kept for years, now’s the time to put one to good use! If you don’t have one, you can purchase a power supply here: Click
The power supply connected to the valve is designed to be daisy-chained. This means you only need a single AC/DC adapter for multiple valves, provided they are placed close to each other. Each valve requires about 200mA. With the power supply mentioned above, you can therefore connect up to 7 valves.
If you order multiple valves and external housings, you’ll receive the coupling connectors for free.
